They have the authority to ordain deacons, priests, and other bishops. Bishops also have the responsibility of teaching, governing, and sanctifying the faithful within their diocese.

The sacrament of Holy Orders is rooted in apostolic succession, meaning it traces back to the apostles, and each ordained minister is considered part of this unbroken line.
